Statement of Faith

The following statements outline the fundamental beliefs of the Omokoroa Community Church.

1. The Unity of the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit in the Godhead.

2. The Sovereignty of God in creation, revelation, redemption and final judgement.

3. The divine inspiration and trustworthiness of Holy Scripture, as originally given, and its supreme authority in all matters of faith, practice and conduct.

4. The orthodox, traditional interpretation of scripture in all matters of sexuality: believing in the sanctity of marriage; that it is ordained by God and described by Jesus as a sacred and lifelong bond between a man and a woman. (Matthew 19:5-6)

5. The universal sinfulness and guilt of human nature since the fall, rendering man subject to God’s judgement and condemnation.

6. Redemption from the guilt, penalty, and the power of sin only through the sacrificial death of the Lord Jesus Christ, the incarnate Son of God.

7. The indwelling working of the Holy Spirit received at conversion in the individual’s life to bring about sanctification and reconciliation to God by repentance and faith in Christ alone.

8. The indwelling and sanctifying work of the Holy Spirit in the believer, developing spiritual gifts in each individual in their personal ministry to the Lord.

9. The Deity and Humanity of Jesus Christ; His bodily resurrection from the dead; His ascension; His mediatorial work and His future personal return in power and glory.

10. The One, Holy, Universal Church, which is the Body of Christ, to which all true believers belong and in which they are united through the Holy Spirit, and the importance of the church in the life of the individual.

11. The bodily resurrection of the dead and life everlasting.

12. Christ’s Great Commission “to go and make disciples of all nations” as expressed in Matthew 28:18-20.

13. That by faith alone, in Jesus alone, we are saved; not by good works, but that good works are a natural outcome and expression of faith.

14. The sanctity of life and that God determines the length of our days. (Psalm 39:16)

15. That God has not replaced His Chosen people, the Jews, by the Gentiles, but rather has made salvation possible, through the death and resurrection of Jesus, for both Jew and Gentile alike.
